Beats’ Powerbeats Pro will be available for pre-order from Apple this coming Friday, May 3rd at 07:00 PT according to a new report by 9to5Mac, at least in the United States and Canada.
Once the pre-orders are live, and continuing with Apple tradition, units will go on sale a week later on May 10th.
While pre-orders will be opened for all four color options — Ivory, Navy, Moss, and Black — only the Black option will launch the following week. All other colors will go on sale later this summer, with no release window more specific than that mentioned.
No matter which color you go for you’ll have to pay $249.95 to get your hands on the AirPods-like earbuds. Similar to AirPods, the Powerbeats Pro will feature the H1 chip for quicker pairing and device switching, while there will be four different sizes of interchangeable ear tips available in each box. Adjustable ear hooks will also be included, making for a much more solid fit than AirPods have been able to achieve for anyone but the most fortunate.
That improved fit should also help the Powerbeats Pro offer improved audio, too. Especially for those who like their bass.
Completely re-engineered from the inside out, the earphones boast an upgraded linear piston driver that leverages an efficient, pressurized airflow to create a powerful acoustic response in a small package. Enhanced sound quality means incredibly low distortion and great dynamic range across the entire frequency curve.
The Powerbeats Pro are undoubtedly designed to be a sporty alternative to AirPods and offer the features, including wireless “Hey, Siri” support. If you’ve been on the lookout for an AirPods release that fits your ears better, or just one that is sweat proof for use in the gym, then this is it. It’s just a shame the colors are super limited at launch.
