Apple released a new iPhone ad earlier today and it’s all about showing how easily a lost iPhone can be found using nothing more than an Apple Watch.
The ad, titled Haystack, literally shows someone walking up to a haystack and then finding their iPhone. Using just their Apple Watch, of course.
The ad doesn’t specifically explain what’s going on, but the person uses the Ping feature of their Apple Watch to make their iPhone play a repeated alert sound. That allows them to put their arm into the haystack and retrieve their iPhone, all without breaking a sweat.
You can watch the video embedded below.
An iPhone that’s lost is easily found. Relax, it’s iPhone + Apple Watch.
The feature will work on most iPhones and Apple Watches, including the latest iPhone 12 and Apple Watch Series 6. The Ping feature will only work if you’re close enough to the iPhone to be able to hear it of course. If not, the Find My app is a much better option whether on another device or via the web.
We’ve already heard of the Find My app reuniting people with iPhones in strange situations, not least when they have been stolen.
