The brand-new 15-inch MacBook Air is already available to order, with the company saying that it can be pre-ordered now and will be released on June 13.
Apple announced the 15-inch MacBook Air as part of the WWDC 2023 event on June 5 and it’s set to become a go-to Mac for a lot of people. The large 15.4-inch display is notably bigger than the 13.6-inch model, for example.
Inside the base model there is a 256GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and an Apple M2 chip. That chip has an 8-core CPU and 110-core GPU while Apple says that users can expect up to 18 hours of battery life. But the large display is undoubtedly the thing that will generate sales here.
SPACIOUS, BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY — The high-resolution, 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display features 500 nits of brightness, P3 wide color, and support for one billion colors for vibrant images and incredible detail. (The display on the 15-inch MacBook Air has rounded corners at the top. When measured as a standard rectangular shape, the screen is 15.3 inches diagonally; actual viewable area is less.)
The new MacBook Air will ship with macOS 13 Ventura installed but will also support macOS 14 Sonoma when it’s released later this year. The software update was announced as part of the same WWDC event and is now available in developer beta form.
Apple’s new Mac software, as is the case with the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV software that was also announced, won’t be made available to the public until this fall.
