Apple’s iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to be announced during an event in September, and we’re starting to learn more and more about what they will have to offer.
Now, a new report claims that the next iPhone refresh will see a RAM upgrade, but only in those particular handsets.
Right now the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus both have 6GB of RAM while the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have more, coming in at 8GB. Now, analyst Jeff Pu says that will change next time out.
MacRumors reports that Pu believes that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will both be upgraded to 8GB of RAM apiece, a change that will match the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. That is, those two models won’t get a similar upgrade and will instead match the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The same analyst note from Pu claims that Apple will also give the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus Wi-Fi 6E support. Right now the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the only models that have support for Wi-Fi 6E. Devices that use Wi-Fi 6E can access the 6GHz spectrum which enables faster data transfer speeds and a reduction in signal interference.
If everything goes the way that it’s expected to and has done previously, we can expect Apple to announce the new iPhones in September, likely alongside a new round of Apple Watch refreshes.
