Apple’s high-end iPhone 14 Pro is more than 20% faster than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra, according to a new report.
Samsung only just announced the Galaxy S23 Ultra, it’s standout phone with a massive 200-megapixel camera.
But its Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip doesn’t appear to be able to compete with the iPhone 14 Pro’s A16 Bionic according to numbers shared by CompareDial.
The numbers come via Geekbench scores, and it doesn’t make for great reading for Samsung or Qualcomm. According to the numbers seen from Geekbench 5 tests the Galaxy S23 Ultra scored 1,480 in the single-core test and 4,585 in the multi-core test.
Over on the iPhone 14 Pro we see scores of 1,874 in single-core testing and 5,384 in multi-core tests. The biggest difference between the two devices is clearly in the single-core testing, but it’s also true that the iPhone 14 Pro is the winner when doing things that use all of the chip’s cores as well.
Of course, the really bad news for Samsung and Qualcomm is that Apple will announce the A17 Bionic chip this September. That’s likely to power the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, although the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are likely to use the existing A16 Bionic.
The new Samsung Galaxy S23 lineup is available for pre-order right now and will go on sale on February 17.
