Apple’s iPad Shipments Will Remain Stable Despite Global Chip Shortages

Apple’s iPad shipments are expected to remain stable despite the looming chip shortages that are impacting other companies, according to a new report.

A number of companies are struggling to get new products into the market and ensure existing ones remain available due to a global ship shortage that has been brought on by a variety of factors, not least a Texas manufacturing plant closing down due to adverse weather conditions.

However, Apple’s iPad business will remain untouched according to a DigiTimes report, with any drops caused by seasonal decline rather than a manufacturing problem.

Apple’s iPad Pro refresh is also expected to help the company remain afloat in terms of numbers, with orders already proving popular following last week’s pre-order window.

The sequential shipment decline in the first quarter was due to slow-season effect and volumes in the second quarter are expected to continue suffering from seasonality, witnessing a sequential drop of 6.6%, Digitimes Research’s figures show.

Apple is also expected to announce a newly refreshed iPad mini, too, something that will also likely help the company to ship more tablets than might otherwise be expected.

However, Apple will still be impacted by the chip shortages as a whole with Mac supply constraints also through to play a part throughout the remainder of the year.
