Future iPad mini and iPad Air tablets could benefit from upgraded OLED displays like the one that is coming to the 2024 iPad Pro. That’s according to a new report by technology research firm Omdia.
The research was first spotted by MacRumors and claims that Apple’s iPad display plans include the move to OLED iPad Pros next year, something that we’ve been expecting for a little while now.
However, the transition to OLED won’t end with the iPad Pro, according to Ombia.
The report adds that the iPad mini and iPad Air will also make the move to OLED in the future, with LG and Samsung set to be the two companies tasked with providing the OLED panels. There are likely to be others added to the mix as well, the report claims.
Furthermore, Apple is continuously discussing the possibility of widely adopting OLED technology for the iPad mini and iPad Air lineup as the next phase of its strategy from 2026 onward. Apple may review the market feedback and sales results of the OLED iPad Pro to adjust its OLED iPad mini and iPad Air launch schedule. It also seeks more display supply chain partners to join its OLED iPad panel supplier list.
Apple is expected to give next year’s M3 iPad Pro refresh the first OLED iPad displays, but it now seems likely that other iPads will follow suit soon enough.
