If you’ve been looking at your iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max and wishing that its Dynamic Island would stand out a little more, you’re in luck. With the upcoming iOS 16.1 update, it looks like you’re going to get your wish.
The latest iOS 16.1 beta, as reported by MacRumors, adds a new gray border to the Dynamic Island in specific situations.
The move means that it is easier to spot at times when it might otherwise blend into the background. That means that anyone with a dark wallpaper or using Dark Mode will see a gray border around the Dynamic Island when it is in use.
That means that any time the Dynamic Island is active, like displaying music playback or other alerts, the border will appear.
However, that same border will disappear when the Dynamic Island isn’t being used or when the iPhone is locked, MacRumors notes. You also won’t see the border if you’re using a lighter wallpaper, either.
The border does not show up on lighter color wallpapers where the Dynamic Island’s outline is already visible, and it disappears when the iPhone is unlocked or when the Dynamic Island is not being used. If you play music or use an app that displays content in the Dynamic Island, the border will show up again.
Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the first to offer the Dynamic Island and Apple is still tweaking the way it looks and functions.
The iOS 16.1 beta is now in the hands of developers as well as those who are on the public beta program. It’s expected to be released to the public in the coming weeks.
