Apple’s new TV app is now available to download via the App Store for those running the iOS 10.2 betas, further confirming that the final release of the updated iPhone and iPad software is just around the corner. Whilst everyone can see the new TV app in the App Store, only those with the beta software installed are able to download it. For everyone else, the GET button is greyed out, preventing it from being pressed.
We have been anticipating the public release of iOS 10.2 for a few days, and with Apple pushing new beta releases of the software to developers multiple times over the last ten days, it has been suspected by many that the company is getting ready to flick the switch on the release once a few final bugs are ironed out.
This appearance of the new TV app in the App Store, which will only be available to those running iOS 10.2 once it is released, adds credence to those suspicions.
The new TV app brings users’ television shows and movies into one, Apple-controlled app. They can keep track of their favorite content, along with schedules for the release of new episodes whilst also receiving personalized recommendations on what they might like to watch next.
The new TV app replaces iOS’s previous Videos app, and also features support for Apple’s new Single Sign-on technology that allows third-party apps to share log-in credentials for things like television providers. Earlier this week, Apple made Single Sign-on feature available to iOS 10.x and tvOS 10.x users.
With the TV app now in the App Store, we expect to see iOS 10.2 arrive on everyone’s iPhones and iPads within days. After all, why would the TV app be pushed under the spotlight if Apple didn’t intend for it to be made available sooner rather than later?

The latest release in the iOS 10.2 beta cycle as of this writing is beta 7, which is available to download right now to those registered with the Apple Developer Program and Apple Beta Software Program.
