Apple is late entering the world of foldable devices, but that could finally be set to change as soon as next year. But while other companies focus on phones, one analyst says that a foldable iPad is on the way.
According to analyst Jeff Pu, writing in a research note seen by 9to5Mac, Apple is getting ready to launch an 18.8-inch iPad Fold device in 2026.
However, Pu also notes that there are as many as two different foldable devices to launch next year.
If Pu is correct, we can look forward to the 18.8-inch iPad Fold as well as a new 7.8-inch iPhone Fold, as has been reported time and time again in recent years. However, such a device has so far not materialized, so it’s unclear whether that will change this time around.
Pu currently believes that mass production of both devices will kick into gear in the fourth quarter of 2026, suggesting that we could see a launch towards the end of that year. However, it’s important to remember that there is still plenty of time for Apple’s plans to change, so we wouldn’t suggest you start breaking open that piggy bank just yet.
One thing we can predict is that both of these devices will be costly. Foldable phones in the Android world already cost considerably more than non-foldable ones, and we see little reason why Apple would take a different approach to pricing.
