Apple has officially announced that registration for this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2017) is now open for those interested in descending to Silicon Valley this coming June.
This year’s conference will take place from June 5-9 in San Jose, California, with the Cupertino-based company once again taking the opportunity to introduce a lottery-based system which will randomly choose who will be provided with the opportunity to purchase tickets from the pool of those registering their interest.
Once upon at time, Apple used to announce WWDC and then put tickets up for sale a few months before the actual conference. Like most setups of that nature, the tickets were offered on a first come first served basis, which meant that tickets were often gobbled up almost instantly with the event often becoming populated by the same developers and press each year who were able to get in on the action at the right time.
To try and combat that, Apple has used recent years to introduce this lottery system to try and combat that, and to make the ticket purchasing experience more of a fair one across the board.
It appears that the company is once again using the same system, with registration now opening for those looking to attend this year’s conference. As always, the conference will be held over the course of a working week and will give those in attendance access to in-depth technical sessions, hands-on labs with Apple engineers, and even fabulous content delivered by high-profile speakers. And of course, after taking part in “exciting experiences around the city”, guests will be invited to the incredible after-event bash to bring WWDC to an official end.
It’s hard to not get excited about the event when Apple does such a wonderful job of telling potential guests what it’s all about:
Technology alone is not enough. Technology must intersect with the liberal arts and the humanities, to create new ideas and experiences that push society forward. This summer we bring together thousands of brilliant minds representing many diverse perspectives, passions, and talents to help us change the world.
For those the opportunity to be a part of this year’s WWDC, Apple is accepting interest for this year’s WWDC right now at developer.apple.com/wwdc/register/, with tickets starting from $1599.
The opportunity to buy tickets to WWDC 2017 is offered by random selection. Register by Friday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. PDT for your chance to join thousands of others coming together to change the world.
