Apple will reportedly launch an updated version of its popular AirPods Pro earbuds in the second half of next year, according to a new report via DigiTimes.
According to the same report, Apple will have at least some of its AirPods Pro be manufactured in Vietnam, likely by Inevntec Appliances. The existing partners of Luxshare and GeorTek will also continue to be involved, too.
Apple’s plans to have devices and accessories built in Vietnam is a continuation of a project to try and move manufacturing away from China wherever possible. Apple was burnt by its reliance on the country during the coronavirus pandemic and wants to diversify its production pipelines.
Little is known about the next round of AirPods Pro, but previous rumors suggested new sensors would allow them to monitor health signals in a way similar to the Apple Watch.
We’ve also heard rumors of a new pair of standard AirPods being on the horizon, likely with a design similar to AirPods Pro but without the feature-set.
While a ton of talk right now is about iPhones, the AirPods and AirPods Pro are super popular and continue to help drive Apple’s wearables market alongside the Apple Watch. Apple is also rumored to have a pair of headphones in the works, likely carrying the same in branding.
