Apple Vision Pro Owners Won’t Get A visionOS 2 Public Beta Release

Apple announced the visionOS 2 software update during the WWDC event on June 10 and a beta is now available to developers who are working on Apple Vision Pro apps of their own.

However, while there will be public beta versions of the iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, and macOS Sequoia, Apple has confirmed that visionOS 2 won’t follow suit.

That was confirmed by 9to5Mac which notes that the public beta program website lists every platform that will be added to the mix this month and the Apple Vision Pro is notably absent.

This means that the first time that Apple Vision Pro owners who are not registered developers will be able to take visionOS 2 for a spin will be the final release, likely in or around September. This is the first time that Apple’s spatial computer has received a major software update and it brings with it a number of improvements. However, the biggest updates will come to the iPhone, iPad, and Mac thanks to the launch of Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence is set to launch in beta later this year and will bring AI-powered features to those platforms.

The features will use Apple’s in-house AI smarts while OpenAI’s ChatGPT will also be used when required — although users will be given the option not to access ChatGPT if they prefer. Support for other chatbots is also set to be included later, too.
