"Love is in the air" is a famous phrase, and one that you’re probably going to be hearing ad nauseam as we close in in Valentine’s day halfway through next month. Apple has, quite naturally, sought to latch onto this brief period of gift-buying, and with the iPad Air being among its marquee products, used that trusty old saying to its advantage. But while, as the company states on the promotional landing page, "love is in the Air" (like, the iPad Air.. geddit?), the feel-good vibe doesn’t extend to any sort of price-cut for the new, and highly sought-after device. Still, there are plenty of gifts lovingly hand-picked by the fruit company, (see, we can all do bad puns), and if you feel like treating yourself (or that special someone) this Valentine’s, Apple is looking to reel you in.
As we learned from yesterday’s earnings call, which saw Apple post some record numbers over the holiday period, its devices are very much in demand, but if you happen to be in the hunt for a new iPhone or iPad for you or somebody else and expecting a saving, you’re going to be disappointed. In fact, aside from Black Friday, Apple never offers discounts on its best-sellers, so this Valentine’s Day, you’re going to have to make do with paying full-whack for some of the company’s suggested gifts.
Although a pair of JayBird BlueBud X headphones doesn’t exactly scream "romantic gesture," there are plenty of accessories and peripherals that your significant other might appreciate, including Anki DRIVE cars and Nike’s immensely popular Nike+ FuelBands.
The FuelBand, while both functional and fashionable thanks to the plethora of colors now available, may swing one of two ways in terms of reception, so you’ll have to judge whether it’s an appropriate Valentine’s gift depending on who you’re buying for. After all, purchasing a fitness-related product for somebody could be misconstrued as meaning that they need to exercise, so be sure to make the right call if you want Valentine’s Day to run smoothly!
If in doubt, your local gas station will surely bail you out with some lovely, half-dead, gasoline-infused flowers. But if you do want to make something of an effort, check Apple’s Top Valentine’s Gifts on the Apple Online Store.
