Apple is reportedly readying a new app for Android users, bringing the Apple TV app to the platform for the first time.
The Apple TV app would give Android device users a new way to watch Apple TV+ content.
Right now Android phone and tablet owners have to use the Apple TV website if they want to stream content from the Apple TV+ service, whereas iPhones and iPads have access to an app. According to leaker ShrimpApplePro, Android could be getting an app of its own soon.
This is the same leaker who correctly shared details about the iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island and box before the official announcement, suggesting that they have a connection somewhere. They claim that Apple is now testing the app internally with a release expected soon.
Apple already offers other Apple TV apps on a range of devices so a release on Android makes sense. The Apple TV app is already available on smart televisions, games consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, and streaming sticks like the Amazon Fire TV.
Alongside streaming Apple TV+ content, the Apple TV app also allows people to watch content from Apple TV Channels as well as buy and rent TV shows and movies via the iTunes Store.
Apple already offers other apps on Android, including an Apple Music app that means more people can use its music streaming service.
