Apple TV Could Soon Push Web Links To iPhones And iPads

Apple TV owners cannot currently open web links on their TVs due to the lack of a Safari web browser, but a workaround will soon allow them to send those links to their iPhones or iPads instead.

The next big tvOS software update, tvOS 18, will be released to the public this fall and the update is already in the hands of developers.

One tvOS 18 tester, Sigmund Judge, has shared that the current developer beta allows Apple TV owners to send links to their other devices for viewing.

Today’s tvOS 18 developer beta gives a preview for some potentially pretty special integrations including the ability to distribute related media like books, soundtracks and AR experiences to iPhone and iPad.

Judge shared a video of the new feature on the Threads social network, with Apple promoting the Apple Vision Pro’s Immersive Videos. Those promotions include a new button that allows a link to the AirDropped out to other devices that are nearby.

The tvOS 18 update will bring with it a few new features including information on actors and more when watching content via the Apple TV+ service among other things. Live Captions during FaceTime calls are one notable improvement, while there are also new screensavers for those who enjoy the high-resolution videos available on the Apple TV.
