Great news for Apple TV 4 users out there! After releasing a public jailbreak for iOS 9.1 devices earlier today, Pangu Team has now confirmed that they will release a jailbreak solution for Apple’s tvOS-powered fourth-generation set-top box.
When this jailbreak is released, it will be the first time any public jailbreak is made available for tvOS and Apple TV 4, opening it to a whole new world of possibilities.
While Apple TV 4 already has an App Store for official supported apps, and an official sideloadable option for those apps that Apple doesn’t approve of, a jailbreak will still be useful for things like customizing the interface and adding new features which wouldn’t be possible without a jailbreak.
We will release jb for Apple TV4(9.0.x) next week which only has SSH access. It’s mainly for security researchers and jailbreak developers.
It’s important to note that Pangu’s Apple TV 4 jailbreak will be available for tvOS 9.0.x only, not the latest tvOS 9.1, 9.1.1 and the upcoming tvOS 9.2. If your Apple TV is still on tvOS 9.0.x, DO NOT update if you plan to take advantage of this jailbreak when it becomes available sometime next week.
We will of course let you know as soon as Apple TV 4 jailbreak goes live next week. Stay tuned.
