Apple has announced a new repair program for owners of third-generation iPad Airs that have an issue that could cause the display to go blank.
That may be a temporary issue, or in some cases it may go permanently blank.
This doesn’t affect all iPad Airs, whether third-generation or not. Apple says that it only affects those that were built between March 2019 and October 2019. If your iPad is experiencing issues, you can have it repaired by either Apple or an Authorized Service Provider at no cost to you.
Apple has determined that, under certain circumstances, the screen on a limited number of iPad Air (3rd generation) devices may go blank permanently. A brief flicker or flash may appear before the screen goes blank.
This new repair program covers affected third-generation iPad Air tablets for two years after the first retail sale of the device that is faulty. Even if you don’t know when that was, Apple will be able to confirm when it was sold via its individual serial number.
If your iPad is affected you can reach out to Apple in the first instance. Phone, online chat, or physical Apple Stores might be the best option here. Although if you intend on going to a store we’d suggest making an appointment ahead of time. Otherwise, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to be seen straight away.
