Apple has today released the second public betas of iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 after also making the same updates available to developers yesterday.
The move comes two weeks after Apple made the first beta available for download.
Those who are registered on the public beta program can download the new updates starting today by heading into the Settings app and using the Software Update mechanism. They’ll need to be signed into the correct Apple ID, with Apple beginning to end the use of profiles that would normally allow betas to be downloaded.
It’s still early days for iOS 16.5 and iPadOS 16.5 so we can expect there to be changes between this round of betas and the final version that is likely to ship to the public in a matter of weeks.
So far the betas have shown that Apple has added a new Sports tab to the Apple News app, while Siri can also be used to begin a screen recording for the first time.
This round of updates is likely to be one of the last as Apple gets ready to begin work on iOS 17 and iPadOS 17. Both updates will be unveiled during the WWDC event in June, with the updates rolling out in beta form almost immediately. It’ll be a few months before they’re available to the public however, with September the likely release window.
