Apple Said To Be Increasing iPhone Shipments By 30% In The First Half of 2022

Apple is said to be planning to increase its iPhone shipments by as much as 30% during the first half of 2022 with the plan being to ship more than 300 million iPhones during the entire year.

That report comes courtesy of DigiTimes Taiwan, with people familiar with the matter being cited. While the first half of the year is set to be full of iPhone 13 sales, it’s also thought that Apple expects strong iPhone 14 demand in the final quarter of the year to help it beyond that 300 million device goal.

This latest report goes against a previous Bloomberg report which said that Apple was in fact telling suppliers to reduce their orders, all thanks to slower than expected iPhone 13 demand. It’s likely that Apple simply expects demand to increase once the holiday period is done and dusted, with the iPhone 14 bringing things home towards the end of 2022.

Apple’s iPhone 13 lineup has been blighted by supply issues since launch, with demand outstripping the number of devices available in stores to the tune of delivery windows that were well into the weeks rather than days. Demand is now thought to be equalizing with production capabilities, allowing people to buy iPhones when they want to rather than being forced to wait.
