With the iPhone 15 series around the corner, there’s a lot of speculation about the potential specification throughout the range.
According to an unconfirmed report from a Foxconn worker, Apple is expected to increase the battery size across its upcoming iPhone 15 lineup, marking a substantial improvement over previous models.
Those same sources, coming via ITHome, suggest that the iPhone 15 will boast an 18% larger battery, followed by the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro with a 14% increase, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max featuring a 12% larger battery when compared to last year’s models. This move signals Apple’s focus on improving the overall user experience, with battery life being a crucial aspect of smartphone performance.
The larger batteries could substantially enhance the overall performance of the iPhone 15 series. A larger battery could translate to longer screen time, better support for power-intensive applications, and an overall improved user experience. It could also potentially support new power-consuming features that Apple may introduce with the iPhone 15 series.
This increase is even more significant considering that Apple’s iPhone batteries have been historically smaller compared to Android counterparts. The iPhone’s efficient iOS has enabled competitive battery life even with smaller battery sizes. The upgrade to larger batteries could give the iPhone 15 lineup an edge in the fiercely competitive smartphone market.
The iPhone 15, with an 18% larger battery, stands to benefit the most from this upgrade. This could make it an attractive option for users who prioritize battery life but don’t want to invest in the higher-end iPhone Plus or Pro models.
Additionally, sources from within Foxconn have stated that the iPhone 15 Pro will start with a 256GB storage capacity. If accurate, Apple will be doubling the storage capacity of the base model, which is currently 128GB. This could signify Apple’s attempt at differentiating the Pro model iPhone 15 from other devices in the range as part of a marketing win to win over users who may be on the fence about paying for an upgraded Pro model.
While we wait for more details to unfold, the news of the increased battery sizes across the iPhone 15 lineup is a promising development. We will surely hear more about this in the coming weeks as we hurtle toward an official announcement.
