Apple has only just brought the new mini-LED screen to its 12.9-inch iPad Pro, but according to a new report we can look forward to OLED screens coming to “some” iPad models as soon as next year.
That report comes courtesy of Korea’s ETNews, with the suggestion being that OLED displays will replace LCD displays in 2022.
The report doesn’t specifically say which iPads we can look forward to changing, but previous Ming-Chi Kuo reports have suggested that the iPad Air would get an OLED screen as soon as 2022.
Via Google Translate:
Apple has confirmed the installation of an organic light-emitting diode ( OLED ) on the iPad . The small and medium-sized OLED market is expected to enter the second growth phase. Apple is the No. 1 company in the tablet market, and the small and medium-sized OLED market, which has grown mainly for smartphones with the iPad OLED conversion, is setting a new growth platform. Small and medium-sized OLED investments, which have been suspended for a while, are also expected to resume in earnest.
Apple currently uses OLED in its high-end iPhones and Apple Watch, but has so far resisted bringing the technology to its tablet lineup.
