Apple’s Vision Pro will finally go on sale on Friday, February 2 and the headset will enter the market after months of waiting — it was first announced in June of 2023.
It’s also been available for preorder for a couple of weeks now, and a new report claims that Apple managed to sell quite a few of these things already.
That report comes via MacRumors which claims that its unnamed source says Apple managed to sell around 200,000 Vision Pro headsets during its first 10 days of preorders.
That isn’t all that far from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo‘s claims that Apple sold between 160,000 and 180,000 units during the preorder weekend so it’s likely that sales have slowed since then. That’s to be expected, however, with early adopters likely to have been those willing to place orders immediately.
Right now the Vision Pro is sold out for home delivery and it’s been that way since the first hours of the preorder window. In-store pickups are also sold out although there is always the possibility that the lucky few will be able to find stock somewhere locally.
If this report is true, Apple made a ton of money from the Vision Pro headset already. Even at the starting price point of $3,499, Apple’s 200,000-strong sales mean it raked in a cool $700 million — a figure that will be higher seeing as some people upgraded to the 256GB or 1TB model.
