As Apple gets ready to release macOS Sonoma to the public it has today made a new Release Candidate version available to developer and public beta testers. This is the second Release Candidate and it arrives just days before the September 26 public release.
The new Release Candidate comes with a series of detailed release notes including a summary that explains the features that the new update offers, including Game Mode, upgrades to Messages and Accessibility, and more.
macOS Sonoma brings all new capabilities that elevate your productivity and creativity. Discover even more ways to personalize your Mac with stunning screensavers and widgets that you can add to your desktop. Elevate your presence on video calls with a new way to present your work that keeps you a part of the presentation. Safari profiles and web apps help you organize your browsing in all-new ways. Game Mode boosts your gaming performance. Sonoma also brings big updates to Messages, Keyboard, and Accessibility. And when you upgrade, you get the latest security and privacy protections available for Mac.
This is very likely to be the final beta for macOS Sonoma before that September 26 release. The fact that a new beta has been released this close to the software’s public availability suggests that there are changes in this version that Apple needed to get into the hands of testers.
The final Release Candidate is normally the same as the one that is rolled out to the world, suggesting that the previous one wasn’t quite ready after all.
We’d expect this Release Candidate to be the same as the one that ships to everyone who wants it next week.
