Apple has today released the first macOS Ventura 13.1 beta update to developers. The beta arrives just 24 hours after Apple made the initial macOS Ventura release available to the public following its own months-long beta program.
Developers who have the correct beta profile installed can now download the macOS Ventura 13.1 beta onto their Macs and put it through their paces.
The update can be found via the Software Update mechanism of the System Settings app. Apple’s servers may be struggling with the load currently, but hang in there — it’ll download eventually.
It is still very early days for this new beta release and it’s currently difficult to say what new changes we can expect to find. However, we do already know that the Freeform note-taking and collaboration tool is available in this beta for the first time. Freeform is also available in today’s iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 beta releases, and was first announced during WWDC in June.
Those who are on the public beta program can likely expect to see the update made available to them within days, assuming no fresh issues are discovered once developers install the update themselves.
As for a public release window, that’s currently impossible to determine. It’s like to be a matter of weeks however, with Apple putting the update through its paces before making it available to everyone who wants it.
