Apple has today released macOS 13.3.1 and it’s available for download now by anyone who has a compatible Mac.
The new update comes as Apple also releases iOS 16.4.1, and much like that release this one is all about fixing bugs. In particular, Apple says that it has dealt with two bugs in particular — and one of them has been causing chaos for people with Apple Watches.
macOS Ventura 13.3.1 provides important bug fixes and security updates for your Mac including:
- Pushing hands emoji does not show skin tone variations
- Auto Unlock your Mac with Apple Watch may not work
Those with compatible Macs can head into System Settings and begin the update process via the Software Update option. Those with automatic updates installed might find that the download is already complete and ready to go, too.
This update comes as Apple is already testing macOS 13.4 with developers. Apple is also set to announce macOS 14 during an event in June, with the WWDC opening keynote also likely to see Apple announce new software for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. If Apple follows the usual release pattern those updates will then be made available for download by everyone in or around September.
Whether you’re suffering with the problems mentioned above or not, we’d suggest downloading this update as soon as possible — Apple doesn’t always confirm which bugs it has fixed and it’s possible that there is more going on under the hood.
