Apple has today released a slew of new software updates that include a combination of bug fixes and security systems that cover its entire lineup. Those with iPhones, iPads, and Apple TV devices already have their updates while those with Macs, Apple Watches, and even HomePods now also have updates to download.
As ever, we suggest downloading the new updates as soon as possible, especially considering the new security improvements that these updates appear to have in tow.
macOS Monterey 12.3.1
If you’re a Mac user you should now be able to download macOS Monterey 12.3.1 to your machine. Head into the System Preferences app to get the ball rolling. This update in particular has some important bug fixes that could improve matters considerably, especially if you’re using an external display on a Mac mini.
This update fixes the following issues:
– USB-C or Thunderbolt external display does not turn on when connected to Mac mini (2018) as a second display
– Bluetooth devices, such as game controllers, may disconnect from your Mac after playing audio through some Beats headphones
watchOS 8.5.1
Those using Apple Watches now have a new update that can be installed via the Watch app on their iPhone. Apple isn’t saying an awful lot about this update other than the fact that it includes bug fixes and security updates. If your Apple Watch supports it, this update is worth installing as soon as possible.
HomePod 15.4.1
Apple HomePod users can now install the new 15.4.1 software update via the Home app, although automatic update should handle things of its own accord unless disabled. This new update lists one specific bug fix in its release notes.
Software version 15.4.1 addresses an issue where some HomeKit-enabled accessories could fail to respond when controlled via Siri. This update also includes bug fixes for your HomePod.
Apple’s latest round of updates comes around two weeks after its last. We can expect it to announce the next big updates during WWDC in a couple of months, although they are unlikely to be made available to the public until September of October.
