Along with the announcement of a brand new iPod line for 2015, Apple has pushed out iOS 8.4 firmware for the new iPod touch 6 to keep it in line with rest of the iOS device lineup. The firmware file is now immediately available for download.
For those who missed out on our previous coverage, iOS 8.4 is a big point release which brings with it Apple’s new music streaming service called Apple Music. Apart from that, users also get the luxury of a 24/7 live Internet radio station dubbed as Beats 1, hosted by big names in the music industry such as Zane Lowe and Dr. Dre among others.
iOS 8.4 has been available for couple of weeks now for other devices, such as the iPhone and iPad, including the old, fifth-gen iPod touch, and this newly released iOS 8.4 firmware file for the 2015 iPod touch 6 is no different at all. In the unlikely event of your new iPod touch getting slow or buggy, then you’ll need the firmware file to restore fresh from iTunes, and we’ve added a link to it at the foot of this post.
Apple’s 6th-generation iPod touch comes in new colors, including gold option, and has internal hardware that packs a serious punch, such as the 64-bit A8 chip that is found in iPhone 6. It also features 8-megapixel camera module which promises to take photos much better than before.
iPod touch comes with same 4-inch Retina Display as iPod touch 5. A big omission is of Touch ID fingerprint sensor. All of Apple’s new iPhones and iPads feature Touch ID but Apple has decided to keep it off its new music player, likely to keep its price down.
You can download iOS 8.4 for iPod touch 6 from the link given below. Since iPod touch 6 ships with iOS 8.4 pre-installed, you may not need to download this firmware file just yet. But we recommend downloading anyway as you might need it down the road for jailbreaking (once TaiG or PP pushes out an update for it) or other purposes.
