Apple has today released the second iOS 17.5 beta to developers alongside the release of the second iPadOS 17.5 beta. The updates will also come to the public beta channel later before being released to the public at a later date.
This release comes two weeks after the first beta and those who are registered software developers can now download the update and install it on their iPhone or iPad.
The update is available via the Software Update section of the Settings app, so long as the iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 beta has been enabled on that device.
Unfortunately, anyone who is hoping for any big new features in this release will be left disappointed — Apple has largely now finished releasing features as part of the iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 family of devices. However, the update does add new EU app downloading features for those in that part of the world. Users with the update installed will be able to download apps from developer websites for the first time.
Beyond these new updates Apple is likely working on the upcoming big iPhone and iPad software updates including iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, but they won’t be previewed until June’s WWDC event.
They will be made available to developers on June 10, but it won’t be until the fall, likely in September, that they will be made available for download by the public.
