Apple has today released iOS 17.2 beta 3 and iPadOS 17.3 beta 3 to developers, giving them their first chance to test their apps against the updated version.
Apple has been testing various versions of IOS 17.2 for a few weeks now and while it is yet to confirm when it will be released to the public, it’s thought that it will happen before the end of 2023 and likely before the Christmas holidays begin.
Developers who want to download the new beta can get it now via the usual Settings and Software Update mechanism, so long as they’re signed in using their registered developer Apple ID. We’d expect this update to also be released to those on the public beta program within the next day or two, assuming no showstopping bugs are found before then.
As for what’s new, the iOS 17.2, update will bring with it the new Journals app. Announced during WWDC’s June event, the Journal app can prompt users with ideas for writing a journal entry while adding photos, music, location data, and more.
Other improvements include a new Favorites playlist in the Music app as well as the ability for multiple people to collaborate on a single playlist.
Finally, Stickers can be used to reply to iMessages for the first time while the iPhone 15 Pro’s Action button will no longer trigger some activities when placed in a pocket or bag.
