Apple has a slew of new releases intended for those non-iPhone owners as well. The Cupertino-based fruit company has just flipped the internal release switch on the final version of watchOS 5.1.3, tvOS 12.1.2, macOS 10.14.3 and HomePod OS 12.1.3.
Available with immediate effect, the release means that all owners of compatible Apple TV unit, Apple Watches, HomePods and Mac computers are able to head over to the respective update mechanisms and get to grips with the latest public versions of Apple’s operating systems right now.
These releases show that Apple is still committed to delivering regular software updates to keep as many devices as possible at the forefront of their capabilities from a feature and security perspective.
watchOS 5.1.3: watchOS is one of Apple’s fastest-growing platforms due to the success of Apple Watch. As the versioning gives away, this release is all about minor bug fixes and is in no way intended to be an overhaul of the Apple Watch operating system. With that in mind, you won’t find any large wholesale feature improvements or additions but should notice a more streamlined experience that has benefitted from a number of under-the-hood improvements.
tvOS 12.1.2: In a similar fashion to watchOS 5.1.3, tvOS 12.1.2 is all about continued progression and eradicating known issues that have come to Apple’s attention. The minor point nature of this release means that we aren’t going to turn on our Apple TVs and have a radically redesigned interface or stumble across features that have never been seen before. However, it does mean that all compatible Apple TV units should function just that little bit better and will benefit from fewer bugs and an improved user-facing experience.
macOS 10.14.3: After iOS, macOS is the platform that most people look to with respect to new features and functionality. Alas, if you are one of those people then you can expect to be disappointed with this release. However, if you understand the chain of command as far as software releases go then you will understand that this relatively minor release is as sometimes as equally important as the larger feature addition releases. Mac owners should notice that macOS 10.14.3 clears up some pesky bugs and tidies the system up under-the-hood.
HomePod OS 12.1.3: According to Apple’s official release notes, HomePod 12.1.3 includes following:
– Fixes an issue that could cause HomePod to restart
– Addresses an issue that could cause Siri to stop listening
All of the aforementioned updates are available right now for public consumption and can be downloaded from software update mechanism directly from the device itself.
