Apple has released a new firmware version for the AirPods Max headphones. This release, version 3E756, is the third to arrive since AirPods Max were released to the world in December of last year. The previous version was 3C39.
We don’t know what Apple has done to this particular update but the fact it arrives alongside Apple Music’s new Dolby Atmos Spacial Audio release does seem somewhat coincidental.
Apple won’t be telling us what the update involves so we’ll just have to see if we notice anything new. It’s also possible Apple has issued the update to deal with some lingering battery life complaints as well.
Actually forcing your AirPods Max to update to the latest firmware simply isn’t possible. Some people have had luck leaving their AirPods Max plugged in and near to their iPhone for a period, likely overnight. But the entire update process is automated and you’ll likely never notice it happen.
You can check what version of the firmware your AirPods Max are running from the Settings app.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Tap AirPods.
- Look for the number next to “Firmware Version.”
Have your AirPods Max updated and if so, have you noticed any changes? Shout out in the comments below!
