The rumors of impending new iPad releases have been circling for a good while now and with each passing day, it looks increasingly likely that we will be seeing at least some new iPads within the coming months.
Now we have our latest indication that is indeed the case, with Apple registering two new unreleased iPads with the EEC, or Eurasian Economic Commission.
Filings like this are a legal requirement for any device that includes encryption and will be sold in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, which in turn makes the filings a pretty good way of getting an insight into Apple’s upcoming products.
Earlier this month, it was noted that Apple had registered five tablets, the A1876, A1934, A1979, A2013, and A2014, but we now have confirmation via Consomac that two more have teen added to the list: 1895 and A1980. It’s generally expected that these new devices are different flavors of iPad Pro.
With the September time window expected to be dominated with at least three new iPhone releases, it’s not yet clear when new iPads will arrive, but we’re pretty certain that they will pop up this side of the new year. The iPad Pro in particular is expected to come in two screen sizes, with 11-inches and 12.9-inches the order of the day according to the most recent report out of Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. These iPads Pro are expected to receive Face ID capabilities and as a result, ditch the Home button. If that is indeed the case, then expect the bezels to shrink too. This alone could make that mammoth 12.9-inch iPad Pro eminently more usable.
Other model numbers that have cropped up as part of Consomac’s digging relate to new iPhones, all expect to arrive in September if Apple’s normal release cadence is any indication.
