Apple’s Let Loose event saw the company announce new iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets today, and the company also took the opportunity to announce new accessories, too. The rumored Apple Pencil Pro is here, while a revamped Magic Keyboard was also shown off.
The new Apple Pencil Pro had been heavily rumored for some time and brings with it a new squeeze gesture that allows users to bring up the tool palette to quickly switch when using apps.
Apple says that a “custom haptic engine delivers a light tap that provides confirmation when users squeeze, use double-tap, or snap to a Smart Shape for a remarkably intuitive experience.” A gyroscope will also allow users to roll the Apple Pencil Pro to give them more precise control of the tool that they are using at the time, Apple says.
Apple says the new Apple Pencil Pro also supports Find My for easier locating. The new stylus is available for preorder now and goes on sale next week for $129.
Those who like to use their iPad with a keyboard will be able to choose the new, lighter Magic Keyboard. It’s designed to be more portable and versatile than the previous model and includes a function row with buttons for screen brightness and volume.
It has many of the same features as the previous generation and still comes in black or silver, while an aluminum palm rest should make the keyboard more sturdy.
The Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch iPads costs $299 while the model for the one designed for larger tablets costs $349. Again, the new Magic Keyboard is available for preorder now and ill go on sale next week.
