Apple will hold a virtual press event next Tuesday, April 20 and the company will announce a new Apple Pencil alongside a new iPad Pro according to a new leak.
Information shared by Weibo leaker UnclePan has been accurate in the past and now it’s being suggested that a new Apple Pencil is in the works and will be announced alongside an updated iPad Pro during next week’s Spring Loaded event.
We saw images of a supposedly new Apple Pencil on social media last month, although the stylus looked almost identical to the one currently being sold. The only difference, on the outside at least, was a gloss finish rather than the matte one we’re familiar with.
With Apple expected to announce a new iPad Pro with mini-LED screen it’s possible that a new Apple Pencil is also needed. Whether a requirement of the technology, or needed to make the most of new features, launching a new Apple Pencil with the new iPad Pro makes sense.
The last new Apple Pencil we saw was in 2018 – a product that was announced at the same time as new iPad Pros.
If this leaker is accurate, history is about to repeat itself as soon as next week.
