If you have been on the fence about picking up a new iPhone and an Apple Watch, then now could be a great time to pull the trigger, with Apple offering $50 off of the price of an Apple Watch (steel) or Apple Watch Sport when bought with an iPhone. Apple Watch Edition and Apple Watch Hermès models are not part of the offer, however.
In order to take advantage of the offer, buyers must buy an iPhone and Apple Watch from October 30 through November 15, 2015. Unfortunately, this offer is not available online, and the two items must be bought at the same time in order for the offer to stand.
The bad news is that the offer isn’t worldwide or even throughout the United States. In fact, the only stores offering $50 off an Apple Watch when purchased alongside an iPhone are “locations in California and Massachusetts, including Burlingame, Chestnut Street, Corte Madera, Hillsdale, San Francisco and Stonestown in the Bay Area, and Boylston Street, Burlington, CambridgeSide and Chestnut Hill in the Boston metro area. ”
Apple’s reasons for offering reductions in the price of the Apple Watch only at certain outlets are unknown, though it’s possible that this move is a sort of trial, with other stores coming online if it proves a success. With the iPhone needing an Apple Watch in order to fully function, the selling of both as some sort of bundle makes perfect sense and a $50 price drop is not to be sniffed at. Apple may not miss that $50 on its bottom line, but the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport are likely easier sells at a price reduced by said amount, with prices starting from $549 and $349 respectively.
The Apple Watch launched towards the end of April and has proven popular whilst not taking the world by storm. Apple will be hoping to correct that in time.
