Apple No Longer Producing iPhone 12 mini Handsets According To One Report

Apple has reportedly now stopped producing new iPhone 12 mini handsets after months of rumors suggesting that sales were less lively than had been expected.

According to a new TrendForce report, Apple has stopped production early, seemingly giving up on the device. While an iPhone 13 mini is expected later this year, next year’s iPhones are not expected to offer a 5.4-inch option.

Apple is expected to focus on driving sales of the three non-mini models in the iPhone 12s series in view of the fact that the iPhone 12 mini (which reached End-of-Life ahead of time in 2Q21) suffered disappointing sales performances compared to other models in the iPhone 12 family.

Apple launched the iPhone 12 mini in October of 2020 after years of people claiming they wanted to be able to buy a flagship iPhone but with a small screen.

While some did indeed buy the device and enjoy it, others found that the smaller battery meant they struggled to get through a day between charges. Others simply never bought it, despite getting the device they’d been shouting for.

We’d heard earlier this year that Apple had moved some production capacity away from iPhone 12 mini, something that will no doubt inform plans for iPhone 13 mini production ahead of an expected September launch.
