Apple Maps has gained a new parking feature for drivers across the United States and Canada. The new feature provides parking information across more than 8,000 different locations thanks to integration with SpotHero.
The new feature allows users to filter parking spots based on their requirements, whether those are physical access requirements or the need for an EV charger while parked.
When using the feature iPhone owners can choose a destination and then tap a button to see parking options around that location.
The content is pulled from the SpotHero app and service, but users don’t actually leave the Apple Maps app in order to see it. Right now the feature is only available on iPhones, but SpotHero says that it’ll also be rolled out to the Apple Maps app for Mac in due course, too.
Apple has spent the last few years leveling up its Apple Maps app and service, adding features that allow it to more readily compete with Google Maps. Once the laughing stock of Home screens around the world, Apple Maps is now a real contender. Features like detailed 3D location modeling, augmented reality, and this new SpotHero integration make Apple Maps a great option for drivers, walkers, and public transport users everywhere.
Unfortunately, there is no indication that similar parking spot-finding will come to other locations around the world.
