Another day, and yet more Apple goodness introduced into the world. The Cupertino-based company has today announced a 2016 update to its existing 12-inch MacBook line that brings new processors, the introduction of new exterior finishes, technical improvements including faster flash storage and graphics performance, and even battery life enhancements that have been derived through the marriage of improved hardware and software.

Potential new 12-inch MacBook owners with a focus on how the hardware looks will be pleased to learn that the new range is available in four aluminium finishes. The existing line-up of gold, space gray, and silver has been joined by what Apple is calling a “gorgeous” rose gold option for the first time on MacBook.
The hardware itself still measures in at a stunning 13.1 mm, still comes with the stunning Force Touch-enabled trackpad, complete with the highly responsive full-sized keyboard, and also manages to squeeze an extra hour of battery life out of the integrated battery pack.
This newly updated range features sixth-generation Skylake dual-core Intel Core M processors which are clocked up to 1.3GHz. They offer Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.1GHz for that additional performance as and when deemed necessary by the underlying system. The new hardware stack also brings up to 25-percent faster graphics performance thanks to the new HD Graphics 515 integration.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, seems to truly believe that this MacBook is the future of notebooks:
MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it’s our vision for the future of the notebook. Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish.
12-inch MacBook is offered in two configurations via Apple’s physical and digital outlets. Consumers can opt for a MacBook with a 1.1GHz processor and 8GB RAM for $1,299. Alternatively, those who have a little additional to spend can upgrade the processor and internal storage capacity for $1,599.
