Apple is working on a new type of Apple TV remote that will see the end of the current Siri Remote that ships with the Apple TV 4K. That’s according to a new round of rumors.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple is already working on a device that is carrying the name B519 inside Apple.
Details about this new Apple TV Remote are still unknown, but 9to5Mac’s sources have told us that this model is being developed under the code name “B519,” which is quite different from the code name of the current Siri Remote — internally identified as “B439.”
The current Apple TV remote, the Siri Remote to give it its proper name, has long been something that people have loved to hate. It remains to be seen whether there will be any huge changes with the next model, but we would certainly hope so.
Made of glass and impossible to identify its orientation by touch, the Siri Remote has long been due a revision.
Apple si also said to be announcing a new Apple TV sooner or later and it’s likely that a new remote will also ship alongside that refresh. If all of the stars align as they appear to be doing, we should expect a new remote with the Apple TV refresh whenever that happens.
