If you’ve been dealing with an iPhone that just refuses to stay connected to WiFi you might be in luck. A new report claims that Apple is testing iOS 16.1.1 and that it could include the fix that you’ve been looking for.
People have been reporting intermittent WiFi disconnections ever since iOS 16.1 was released, with no fix in sight.
However, MacRumors reports that Apple is now testing iOS 16.1.1, an update that has not been made available to developers for beta testing. In fact, developers are already testing iOS 16.2 which suggests this could be an interim update that will be released to fix specific bugs.
MacRumors in the past week has seen signs of devices running iOS 16.1.1 in our website analytics, indicating the update is under testing within Apple and could see a launch in the near future. While it’s unclear what the update will include, it’s possible it could fix a widespread and persistent Wi-Fi bug that has impacted users
Apple is already expected t release iOS 16.2 to the public in the middle of next month. With that in mind, the release of an iOS 16.1.1 update would need to arrive before then otherwise Apple would likely just roll the fix into iOS 16.2.
It’s also possible that the iOS 16.1.1 update will be the one to add support for Emergency SOS via Satellite, a feature that was announced alongside the new iPhones in September but was listed as coming later this year.
