Apple is now selling standalone pairs of its AirPods Max ear cushions for the first time.
The headphone ear cushions had been announced alongside the AirPods Max themselves, but despite having a place in the Apple Store online, they weren’t actually available to buy. That’s now changed with the $69 asking price getting you a choice of colors.
Those colors match the existing color options that you can buy AirPods Max in. That means Silver, Black, Green, Sky Blue, and Red are all options on the table.
While Apple is no doubt selling the ear cushions to give users the chance to replace worn ones in the future, it does offer up the opportunity to customize your AirPods Max look by pairing a new color of ear cushion to your existing AirPods Max. Space Gray AirPods Max with Red ear cushions, in particular, would look pretty hot.
While the $69 asking price might initially seem like a lot to spend on something just to change the way your AirPods Max will look.
But Apple sells Apple Watch bands that cost more than these ear cushions and people seem to buy those in droves. Why wouldn’t the ear cushions be just the same?
Who will be the first to rock a mismatched pair of AirPods Max?
