Apple has today confirmed that it will hold the annual WWDC event in the week beginning June 10. The developer sessions will be run online, while there will be an in-person event on the opening day for those who can attend Apple Park.
Apple holds WWDC each year as a way for app developers to ask questions and learn more about the latest APIs and tools that are available to them.
It’s also an event that Apple uses as a way to preview the upcoming iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV software while the Apple Vision Pro will no doubt be added to that list this time around.
Free for all developers, WWDC24 will spotlight the latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS advancements. As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to helping developers elevate their apps and games, the event will also provide them with unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features.
The event is likely to see Apple unveil iOS 18 and macOS 15, two updates that have been roundly rumored to feature some big updates in terms of AI capabilities. Apple is thought to be talking to Google and OpenAI about the possibilities of using their generative AI technology, while Baidu will power the features in China.
If Apple follows its usual pattern the new updates will be released to developers in beta form on June 10. A months-long beta process will then culminate in the software’s release to the public in the fall.
