Apple Announces iPad mini 7 With A17 Pro And Apple Intelligence

Apple has today announced new iPad mini 7 with A17 Pro chip and support for Apple Intelligence. Here are the details on this release.

Today’s announcement comes in the form of a press release from Apple, which is a surprise given we were all expecting Apple to announce the new iPad mini and new MacBooks at its Fall October event.

Coming back to iPad mini 7, the new model features A17 Pro chip which brings support for Apple Intelligence to the smallest tablet in Apple’s lineup.

Apple says that A17 Pro chip brings 30% boost in CPU performance and a 25% increase in GPU performance compared to the previous generation sixth-gen iPad mini.

Apple has also added support for Apple Pencil Pro to iPad mini, along with support for WiFi 6E, faster USB-C data transfer and 12MP wide camera with Smart HDR 4.

“There is no other device in the world like iPad mini, beloved for its combination of powerful performance and versatility in our most ultraportable design. iPad mini appeals to a wide range of users and has been built for Apple Intelligence, delivering intelligent new features that are powerful, personal, and private,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With the powerful A17 Pro chip, faster connectivity, and support for Apple Pencil Pro, the new iPad mini delivers the full iPad experience in our most portable design at an incredible value.”

The new iPad mini is available to pre-order today in four colors, including Blue, Purple, Starlight and Space Gray. It will go on sale on October 23.

Pricing starts from $499 for WiFi-only configuration and base 128GB storage, which is double the storage than what was offered with iPad mini 6.

With new iPad mini 7 announcement out of the way, it’s expected that Apple will also announce upcoming MacBook Pro with M4 chips in the form of press release soon.
