Apple today announced a slew of new hardware devices including the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro lineups, not to mention a new Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra.
But as always, the hardware is only half the story and Apple has confirmed that it is adding two new iCloud+ storage tiers to its existing offerings.
The iCloud+ option gives people more space to store photos, videos, and more with Apple now adding new 6TB and 12TB options. However, neither of those will be cheap with plans costing $30 and $60 per month, respectively.
Beginning September 18, iCloud+ will offer two new plans: 6TB for $29.99 (U.S.) per month and 12TB for $59.99 (U.S.) per month, providing additional storage to keep files, photos, videos, and more safe, accessible, and easy to share. The new plans are great for users with large photo and video libraries or those using Family Sharing, and will provide access to premium features, including Private Relay, Hide My Email, Custom Email Domains, and HomeKit Secure Video support.
There currently isn’t any indication of whether there will be increased storage options for the Apple One subscription bundle that includes iCloud+, however.
One of the reasons that Apple is offering the new storage options is the new iPhone 15 Pro Max camera, one that is capable of recording even better video than previous models.
And all of those videos will take up more space in iCloud. The other iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models will also now default to creating 24-megapixel photos via their 48-megapixel cameras. The iPhone 14 Pro creates smaller 12-megapixel shots currently.
