In terms of holiday season gifts, those of generations past may have received little more than an orange in a sock, but nowadays, electronic gadgets are at the very top of most people’s "want lists." In anticipation of this, Apple puts out its "perfect gift guide" annually to help consumers decide which iPhone, iPad, iPod, or MacBook to purchase, and today, that day has arrived once again.
The Holiday Gift Guide, which you can access here, has just gone live on Apple’s online Store, and includes a healthy selection of popular Apple products as well as numerous peripherals, software, and gift vouchers / store credit for shopping online and on iTunes. It’s a case of free shipping all round, and although it hasn’t proven to be as cheap as some of us might have liked, I’d say the iPad mini will do very well this holiday season.
Despite looking like a bit of a rip-off to many of us, the general consumer response has been positive with regards to the smaller Apple tablet, and although it’s technically identical to the iPad 2 (which has been superseded twice now), it has enough about it to outsell any other slate from rivaling vendors – Microsoft and the Surface included.
As far as Apple and the holiday season goes, I’m looking forward to the 12 days of Christmas app release once again. Every year, the Cupertino company releases an app with free giveaways everyday on music, apps and video content. Last year was pretty disappointing, but hopefully in 2012-2013, we’ll get some exciting treats to round off the year with.
There’s also of course, Black Friday – a special day for businesses across the United States (and much of the world) in which most retailers offer goods at a discounted rate for the day, or the entire weekend. Not only is it one of the busiest days of the year shopping-wise, but it’s also one of the only occasions in which Apple deducts money from its famously-expensive product lineup.
Hopefully, we’ll have the details of the Black Friday discounts very soon, and should we catch wind of any other information with regards to a price drop, we’ll be sure to let you guys know straight away, so stay tuned!
