Apple is set to announce four new iPhones later this year with a new iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max likely to go on sale in or around September.
However, two analysts have suggested that one of those devices in particular is struggling in terms of manufacturing.
According to Jeff Pu via 9to5Mac, the iPhone 14 Max is around three weeks behind manufacturing schedule, meaning that it could impact its release. The device is experiencing delays in the engineering verification test (EVT) portion of the manufacturing process, one in which all final details are locked in and checked for quality.
Jeff Pu predicts that Apple will build 91 million iPhone 14 units by the end of the year despite production delays for the 14 Max model, which is more than the 84 million iPhone 13 units Apple shipped in 2021. However, it’s unclear whether production delays will push Apple to hold off on the official announcement of the iPhone 14.
That news was further backed up by Ming-Chi Kuo, although he believes that while the delays are real, the iPhone 14 Max will still launch on time and with sufficient supply. He suggests that Apple and its supply partners will have workers catch up by working overtime.

The delays themselves are thought to have been caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with local restrictions and lockdowns impacting manufacturing in Shanghai.
