A number of the world’s biggest PC manufacturers have plans to build Amazon’s Alexa into their suite of Windows 10-powered PCs. The move means that Alexa will continue its growth and continue to offer voice services to more and more people. It also means that Microsoft’s Cortana has a serious competitor on those same machines.
Amazon has done a wonderful job of growing it’s Alexa digital assistant and seemingly getting the voice service integrated into almost everything. And this move will further its domination as HP, Lenovo, ASUS, and Acer are all planning on joining that voice revolution by integrating Alexa into their various desktop and laptop models thanks to a partnership with Amazon.
Those machines will all be Windows 10-powered offerings making it to the next logical step for Amazon to start working with these type of OEMs in order to ensure that Alexa is available on a new wave of machines and a new platform. To start off, HP will be bringing Alexa to its Pavillion Wave PC, which has actually been designed and built to look more like a speaker than an actual desktop computer. Other manufacturers will likely be taking a similar route to ensure that the hardware gets the best out of Alexa.
Amazon and its multiple new partners will be looking to unveil and drop more information about the Alexa integration during this year’s CES in Las Vegas. It seems that the initial Alexa app will be more of a rudimentary way for device owners to make use of Alexa by offering a similar experience as Amazon already does with Alexa through its web or app interface.
However, it’s likely that its power and capability will grow over time as Alexa becomes more deeply integrated. As more information becomes available during the CES conference, we will be sure to bring it to your screen with immediate effect.
