According to a new report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple fans have a lot to look forward to later this year. The Cupertino-based business is set to release the new generation of its much-acclaimed AirPods alongside the iPhone 15.
Notably, the new AirPods are expected to come with a USB-C charging case.
The move to USB-C for the charging case represents a notable shift in Apple’s approach. Traditionally, Apple has favored proprietary connectors like the Lightning port. However, the introduction of a USB-C case, a growing standard in the tech industry, underscores Apple’s commitment to enhancing user experience and expanding compatibility across devices much to the betterment of those actually buying the hardware.
One of the key highlights of the new AirPods is the possibility of them being the first to include Apple’s new software, which boasts a hearing test feature. This innovative functionality – if accurate – falls nicely in line with Apple’s commitment to health and wellness and could be a software-based feature that would be available on all AirPods that is able to determine if a wearer has a hearing issue.
While the detailed specifications of the new AirPods remain under wraps, they are expected to uphold the high-quality sound and seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem that users have come to know and love. That, of course, includes a seamless connection experience with Apple devices and pairing with multiple devices.
Apple’s decision to release the new AirPods along with the iPhone 15 presents an exciting opportunity for tech lovers. Apple fans eagerly anticipate the new iPhone, marking one of the most significant product launches of the year, and potentially getting new accessories alongside that launch is always a benefit.
The report also suggests that Apple is looking further ahead than just the next six months and is actively working on the possibility of putting new and improved sensors in future models of the AirPods. If true, this could include a sensor that is capable of taking a wearer’s body temperature directly from within the ear canal.
Stay tuned for further updates as we get closer to the launch.
