Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 have been roundly lauded as some of the best wireless earbuds around and they’re so popular that they have pushed Apple to a 34% market share.
According to numbers shared by analysts at Canalys, the AirPods Pro 2 have seen Apple’s market share increase by around 6%.
However, Samsung saw its own Galaxy Buds shipments fall by a quarter. What’s more, the wireless earbuds market was the only part of the personal audio market that didn’t decline or remain stagnant.
According to the latest Canalys estimates, the global smart personal audio market suffered its second consecutive decline in Q3 2022, with shipments down 4% to 113.6 million units. TWS remained the only category to show an increase, with 6% growth to 76.9 million units in the quarter.
The changes mean that Apple’s market share is now around 2.5 times that of Samsung, while Xiaomi also reportedly suffered thanks to the growth of AirPods.
Apple (including Beats) defended its leadership position with the second-generation AirPods Pro launch, which led to a 34% increase in shipments and a 31% market share. Samsung (including Harman subsidiaries) took second place, but its shipments fell 15% despite its new Galaxy Buds2 Pro launch.
Apple not only refreshed its AirPods Pro earbuds this year but also released updated AirPods as well, making for a strong pairing for those who want either less costly earbuds or prefer to get advanced features like active noise cancelation and Transparency Mode.
